It seems to be all about the weather here in the winter months. Saturday, when I went out with the dogs, the temperature was this with a wind chill of -34C.
But the sun was shining and I could feel its warmth on my face. That was so nice while on the pond throwing the ball for the dogs. Then it warmed up and here in winter, that means the snow comes. We have a few more centimeters on the ground and it's still snowing. The school buses are not running this morning so another snow day for most kids. Here is my backyard winter wonderland taken through the window just now.
Yesterday's weather was a good excuse to stay cosy all day in my fleece top and polar bear fleece bottoms.
Enough about the weather, on to more important things like stitching.
When I'm watching YouTube, sometimes a video suggestion will pop up and I'm so glad this one did. That was how I found out about Becky Goldsmith's tiny baskets. I remember when some folks were stitching these in a project called A Tisket A Tasket and that would have been many years ago. I decided to give them a try mainly because I need to use up more small scraps. The pattern is free. I just love stitching these tiny baskets. And Becky's video featuring the tutorial is just wonderful. I learned something brand new to me. And that is you can wet fabric to get it to turn/fold a little like at the top of the handles. That actually works. What a great scrappy project and I'll be matching up with the colour for the monthly RSC colour while I stitch more of them. They are 3 inches and while they stitch up quickly, they are a bit fiddly.
I have to be careful not to get obsessed with stitching them.
I have the Blackbird Designs Christmas Tablecloth almost finished. The three pieces are joined but I have some minor stitching I want to do like add more embroidery to the leaves on the right side, for instance. Then I'm going to retire it for this year with the hope and plan of quilting it next fall in time for Christmas.
LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color's prompt last week was about using planners/calendars. I always have a yearly calendar type book to write in and note appointments, etc. Here is last year's and my newest one that I bought at a thrift store. Yes, it was totally baffling to me why a 2026 book would be there. It was obviously brand new with the Winner's tag on it and one of those finds that makes me think they are there just waiting for only me to come along. My week is filling up with appointments including another CT scan for Tony. I am very thankful this can be done at a local hostpital so we don't have to drive into Ottawa especially with all this weather. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to write a comment on my posts. We both read them and take encouragement from them.
Very happy to share this post with linky parties like the Inquiring Quilter who just celebrated the 9th anniversary of hosting. Congratulations, Jennifer! Also sharing with Sum of Their Stories, Creations Quilts Art, Alycia Quilts, Kathy's Quilts and Melva Loves Scraps.

Prayers the CT scan goes well with good results
Your back yard is gorgeous! Nice lounging pants
What a beautiful snowy scene to look out on but not to venture into. I guess the snow is stll falling. Safe travel to the scan.
What a lovely view from your window. A winter wonderland indeed. Have a blessed week, Jocelyn. I wish Tony the best with the scan. Hugs.
The snow may well look pretty to someone like me who has no knowledge of such extremes, and how brave you are going outside in such cold temperatures. Best wishes for a good result for Tony's scan. Perhaps you can treat yourself to coffee and cake too while you are out and about.
I've tracked the pattern down and just printed it off. I'll definitely be trying this pattern sometime. Stay safe and warm, happy stitching!
I love the Pitt - I am also watching an older series called "Southland" about a group of LA Police. I like the table cloth - where did the pattern come from the style reminds me of the work that the quilter that has a book with blackbirds has I can't for the life of me remember her name but I would remember as soon as I heard it ' good luck to Tony on the CT scan
When I have told Harvey that I have a CT scan appointment, he always asks if I need to go to Regina. Nope we have a unit here at the hospital and very soon (much fund raising happened for this as well as donations) and MRI. It would be nice not to have to travel so far.
I love your backyard.
God bless.
Hope you made it through the storm!
Lovely projects.
I love your pj's and your planners. I LOVE paper planners!
I'm praying Tony's CT brings good results! Your tiny baskets are so cute, and it's really remarkable when someone can sew something so tiny. Your Christmas tablecloth is going to be a masterpiece!
We LOVED The Pitt and are waiting to be able to watch the second season. I think it might be one of the best series we have ever watched. It was done so very well, and the casting is genius. And of course I've had a crush on Noah Wylie since I first saw him on ER. ;)
Praying for good results from the CT and also safe travels while you are on the road. Those little baskets are a perfect RSC block. You will have an adorable quilt with these. You found a beautiful planner for this year.
Wow, that is cold! Lots of snow - it's pretty. Yay for a snug house and stitching to do. Good luck with the CT scan.
Looks beautiful there, Jocelyn, although cold! It always does make a difference when the sun comes out. I love your little baskets - I don't see a problem with becoming obsessed with making them! 😊 Hope the CT scan gives you some good information - or some relief from worry. Thinking of you!
Those baskets really are tiny! and so pretty. I remember Becky talking about them too and thinking about starting them. I never did. Hahaha! Prayers for Tony's CT having good results. Fred has an ultrasound next week. No, he's not preggers! Lol! Loved all your snowy pictures. We got our share down here in the USA's MidWest. A peaceful week to you!
I hope everything goes well with the CT scan. Drive safe.
A real winter wonderland, for sure! The little baskets are so cute--nice work. I have a CT next week; I hope Tony's goes smoothly!
I’m living in the same winter wonderland and trying to appreciate its beauty while wishing it was warmer!😊. Those tiny baskets do look tempting! I love the folk art nature of your Christmas runner. We don’t have access to the channel The Pitt is on, but I wish I could watch (maybe some day) especially because I did my medical training in Pittsburgh and some of it occurred at the hospital they use in the show!
What a gorgeous backyard! It really is a winter wonderland. Those tiny basket blocks are pretty. I might give them a try. I love how your tablecloth is coming along! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

What a picture postcard that winter wonderland is! The tiny baskets are very cute. Hoping the results from the scan are good. Stay warm.
So much snow this winter. I will enjoy the excuse to stay inside and be cozy!
wow, you're a lucky shopper! jealous of your snow... it's warm here still, all fall and winter all the time now in Colorado. Seems normal in other areas, just here. oy, Good luck with the scan, and your stitching is always interesting to me. I love crochet and knitting, yarn running thru your fingers is soothing
LeeAnna
Hope the scan goes well and what a fun you tube surprise finding the little baskets to sew! :)
Hope that CT scan goes well. The snow looks beautiful in your yard. We're having a very dry winter again in this part of SD this year - more cold and brown - and I really miss the snow. The little basket blocks are so cute!!
Your snow photo is beautiful although I am perfectly happy not to be out in it. I love the little baskets and what a great tip about wetting fabric to get it to turn for the handles.
You certainly lucked out with finding an up-to-date planner at the thriftie! I have used a page-a-day planner from Brownline for years. I started using them when I was an Avon rep and needed to keep track of appointments and now I guess they're habit. I do like having space to jot little notes.
I wonder if we can get The Pitt on Disney+ - will have to put the RC on that and see if he can find it.
And, last, but certainly not least - best wishes to Tony for a good CT result.
Praying that the CT scan has good results for agony, and that the journey into town is uneventful with this cold cold weather. Beautiful snow photos, and I am amazed that you went out to play at -25!!!
Sweet BLUE baskets for the RSC and best of luck with that CT scan!
I hope Tony’s ct scan goes well. Cute baskets! I made a whole bunch of those years ago and they ended up being a border in a medallion quilt. I made pincushions for my friends with the leftovers. Stay warm and cozy! Gail at the cozy quilter
I love those little baskets. I haven't done RSC for awhile. We have snow and cold here in Indiana now, too. Best wishes for your husband's Ct scan.
Yor winter wonderland is so pretty!!!! and looks VERY cold! I love the jammies - stay warm!
