Back in 2016, just over ten years ago, I wrote this post called 5 Healthy Things I'm Doing. I reread it recently and was happy to find I'm still doing those things most of the time. Though the oil pulling has fallen by the wayside, I've added a couple of other healthy habits. I'm so grateful I am still able to do these things. Who knows what tomorrow may bring!
My unofficial words for this year are keep moving. They've been in my mind all my adult life so it's not special for 2026. All my efforts to keep Tony moving flopped. On my very first visit to the farm I wanted to head out on the trail he said went through the woods along by the pasture. He didn't really want to but had to show me where to go so off we went. He's a reluctant mover, preferring to keep busy by doing chores. He stayed slim by controlling his diet. I really did think I would change him and that he would learn to enjoy walking, especially with the added bonus of seeing nature up close on his beautiful land. But it wasn't meant to be that that would be one of his things to love.
Below is the little video our real estate agent made when we were selling that 100 acre property. The farm land was rented to a neighbour. Those woods behind the house was where I walked just about every day and enjoyed every minute of it (except for that one time I got lost back there). I'd never lived in such a place before and it was just one of the many adventures I've had in my life. LeeAnna Not Afraid of Color's prompt this week was about just that.

Your property certainly was a pastoral setting. Great find at the thriftie - it looks so cozy.
100 acres, the size of our farm where I grew up.Beautiful land, lots of quiet spaces, and so peaceful, yours and ours. Life changes. Your scarf, shawl, what a delight. And almost time down here to make soup and have it always on hand in the freezer, 3 HUGE pumpkins that self grew will be a great start.
What a great place to live and go for walks. Your scrappy Dresden collection is growing. I’ve dug out my red scraps and I’m cutting them into HST’s and squares for my RSC projects. Just keep moving … I enjoy walking daily too. Gail at the cozy quilter
love that wool scarf/shawl it looks like one of those pieces that can last years and years.
I think "keep moving" is one of the best things we all can do for ourselves. I do sometimes have trouble convincing Mike of that, although he will go for walks with me most days. That is a beautiful wool shawl - what a great find! Your soup recipe sounds yummy.
Keep moving is a great piece of advice for all of us. I don't do enough of it lately. The quarter Dresdens look lovely.
I'm trying to like chick peas lately since I re-joined Weight Watchers. Most canned chick peas are zero points. This weekend I tried air-fried chick peas for a crunch snack. I think I'll just pretend they are croutons on my salad.
I would go walk on that property with you Jocelyn! I loved seeing the beauty of that 100 acres. We still talk about getting a little piece of land, but my husband likes being close to everything. I long for the solitude of being outside with no one else in sight, but I have to admit, it would probably be too much for us to tend. Your scarf is beautiful. I get it - I found a plush Skechers blanket at Goodwill a couple months ago for $3 and it thrilled me - lol! I love chickpeas. I put it them in my veggie and chicken soups and I use them for protein on my salads. One of the brands I buy used to sell a kit to make your own hummus, and it was just delicious. Hope you have a great "get moving" week!
I do like chickpeas in certain things. I did not like falafel's though.
God bless.
That was a nice video. How nice that you had those acres to walk in. I do something similar on our hillside. It's a neighborhood but I see lots of interesting things when out walking. Love the quarter Dresdens you're making for RSC.
Greetings from a fellow Canadian. We’re patiently waiting for spring here in Saskatchewan too.
You live in such a lovely area. That scarf was a great find! I never find anything at the thrift store. Your dresdens look great!!
That was a beautiful property, Jocelyn. It must have been difficult to leave. Great find in the scarf and that soup looks and sounds amazing. I am loving the RSC quarter Dresden blocks you are making. Thanks for the sweet shout out for my linky party and thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week.
I would love to walk through the woods with you. So beautiful! Your quarter dresdens are looking great. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
