Valentine's Day, Free Radiance Bloom Pattern, Tumbling Blocks EPP, Yuletide Border, And Me

Thank you all for the ideas on how to prevent Miss White Polka Dot Plant from becoming leggy. Top idea was to pinch her back. Which I now have done.

We enjoyed a takeout dinner and a little treat from daughter for Valentine's Day.

And we joked that this was what I got for Valentine's...I've been wanting one of these for years after seeing it at Daughter's house. I used it right away and loved it. No, it wasn't for Valentine's.  Amazon just happened to deliver it on the day.😊
I enjoyed Ellie's Quilt Place piece called "15 Minute Quilts".  The idea Ellie puts forward is that one of our projects could be a quilt that doesn't require a lot of thinking. That it's a good idea to have a quilt in progress that can be picked up and worked on even if you only have 15 minutes.  One or two block wonders come to mind. I had to smile at myself because while searching a cache of two blocks wonders to share with you, I got completely sidetracked by this, the PDF for a free download of this quilt EQP calls Switch! There are lots of free patterns to ogle there.

And look at this one.

This is a free block pattern from Robin Pickens. I spent so much time visiting Robin's site I never did get to the 2 block wonders. Next post!
That reminded me of the Sunday linky party, 15 Minutes to Stitch,  Kate runs on her blog, Life in Pieces. Thank you Kate for that.
And that reminded me of what I keep on hand for my 15 minutes to stitch.
Also as always part of my TO DO list this week. And thank you Linda for running this linky party, To Do Tuesday, each week at her blog, Texas Quilt Gal, that helps us keep on track.
I have to make more triangles and blocks for my Tumbling Blocks quilt.
I'm still working on widening those three large pieces.  I think I may be addicted to EPP. I'm not kidding.
And I'm almost finished the border on Yuletide. Wow, it is now taking me two nights of tv viewing to get one round crocheted. It is far bigger than I had anticipated but that is a good thing. Hopefully this will get all done and dusted this week. And I'm running out of yarn so it must be nearing the end.
This is me January last year in my happy chair, cross stitching. I'd just cut my hair (too short) but in isolation so who cares. I'm wearing my fair isle fleece tunic from Lands End. Murphy at my feet. Still can't say her name out loud here as someone gets upset.
And on a completely different topic, I am over the moon that things are gradually opening up completely here! We have a date- March 1.  I need more outings.

Oh Jocelyn I just adore my Nellie's mop, I got it last year and have used nothing else ever since. It is perfect for hardwood. As a bonus, I've been buying the mop attachments from the dollar store, and believe it or not they work better than the ones that come with the mop.

Lovely to have that photo with Murphy there, time will ease the loss a little but it really never goes away totally. Short haircut, I had a TRIM only please, a week or so ago, almost a hedgehog style, hopefully it will grow out better. 15 minutes is a good time frame, and would make such a difference to any project.

The only EPP project I have done is to make hexies. It has been an ongoing project that I am in no rush to complete. I work on them sporadically. Living in the desert, I don't really feel like crocheting. Whatever I would stitch would be for cooler weather than we would EVER have on this mountain desert. I like what YOU are stitching. It's so colorful! I'm going to look up that Wow Mop. The package looks very vintage.

Keep warm and stitch on!
xx, Carol

Isolation still? Is it not getting any better there? Here the case numbers are going down drastically and although we still take precautions when out we do go out and about. The cupcake looks good, I made chocolate chip cookies. I am still working on my Yuletide blanket but ended up doing it my way and not following Lucy's pattern.

Wasn't that great timing for your new mop to come in, even if it wasn't per se a gift? LOL I find that the older I get, I don't so much mind appliances for gifts! :)
Oh, yes, EPP can be very addicting! Your shapes look lovely! Love your crocheted project! Yea! Another crocheter! Your happy place is filled with all the items one needs to be cozy! :)

Looks like a fun Valentine's Day and a fun gift too. Hooray for opening, it's great, we've been open for about eight months, normal is good.

That's an interesting mop - if only from the standpoint of the wonderful illustration. Almost would make you want to mop the floors (note, I said 'almost'....hee hee).
I've often used the 15 minute approach with things, particularly if I'm in a slump. It usually works.
And...I love that Radiance Bloom design - would be spectacular bed-sized.

I'm longing to see my knitting group again.
At one point early in the lock down, I debated buzzing my long hair right off and starting new!

That Robin Pickens design is very cute! I like your LE fleece top; it's perfect for those cold winter days, and you look so cozy in your little stitching space!

Hello. I really look forward to reading your blog. Could you say a little more about your tumbling blocks quilt and EPP? I am a relative newby at quilting and I'm very interested in that particular pattern.

That tumbling blocks project is really long term, isn't it? I'm using diamond EPP to make stars, with no end in sight and no real plan for how to set them. I went grocery shopping this AM and the majority of shoppers and workers weren't wearing masks (I still was). The mask mandate in NY was lifted this week. I'm going to check out that mop.

I need that tunic, and oh, Murphy. I hope she's playing with Cole in Heaven, comparing how much they loved their people. Now I'm tearing up.
love the flower blocks and omg the tumbling blocks are coming along aren't they what an accomplishment
sorry I haven't been leaving comments... everything seems so hard for me at the moment

I love having this or that project that can be worked on if you just have 15 minutes! String blocks are good for that time frame. Your tumbling blocks are really coming along, Jocelyn! And those flower blocks are really neat, too. So many fun things to do with fabric and thread!

Jocelyn - the mop made me laugh. My best friend gave me a special gardening shovel for my birthday, and I am over the moon. Love the picture of you from last January - I think the haircut really suited you.

Your happy chair looks fantastic! Every thing close at hand! A new mop is needed at this house! I’m not familiar with the one you have! I’m off to research! Hope the pinching back of Polka Dottie, works for you! That’s what I would have suggested too!

Thank you Jocelyn for such a wonderful post filled with pretty photos. I started doing some EPP this fall and winter to keep my hands busy and I’m really enjoying it. So sweet to see the photo of Murphy 🤗

Hi Jocelyn! Aww. I think your haircut looks nice from one year ago, and I would get upset about Murphy, too. But you could say her name by me! Thank you so much for your thoughts and video about Cubii. Your Valentine treat looks yummy - what a sweet daughter you have. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

English piecing is fun. I want to try stars next. We are all over the moon with restrictions lifting, we need it for our peace of mind. My hair dresser will be trying to figure out what happened to my hair. In need of a haircut. Have an awesome weekend.

That cupcake looks yummy! It's all about the frosting. I try not to go exploring online for just that reason. I already have enough projects.

Enjoy the mop. Great picture of you and Murphy. Your EPP looks great, the tumbling blocks, and crochet project! Busy lady! Hugs

I feel so bad for you being isolated for such a long time! Hope you are “released” soon. The cupcake looks amazing, and your tumbling blocks…WOW! It is so easy to go down a black hole when search8ng for one thing, I have to stay away or my list just gets longer!😆

Be careful with that mop, Jocelyn!! I reached too far with a similar model a few weeks ago and hurt my back. Sorry to say that the link for Ellie didn't work for me. :o((

Hah on being addicted to EPP. That's a pretty good thing to be addicted to. ;) Yummy looking cupcake. I'm so glad things are starting to open up in your neck of the woods. You certainly deserve to be set free! I've used an O'Cedar spin mop for a couple years and love it, but I'm always up for something new. I'll have to check that out.
Thank you for linking up with To Do Tuesday!

That mop looks like the perfect gift! How nice of your daughter to get you one. The tumbling blocks quilt is wonderful! I've only done one epp project but now you've gotten me interested in more. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.

Oooh, fun patterns. I'm not going to click on the links because I'm on a new project diet. But any of those would make great pick up and stitch on for 15 minutes, at least once you had the pieces cut! Happy stitching this week.
