Here I am up at the farm years back planting Morning Glories along the back yard area that the dogs roamed in. Murphy was keeping pace with me as I moved along. These are seeds I would have germinated in the tiny green house attached to the barn. I enjoyed training the vines up that fence to cover it up. Happy Spring Memories!
I've been following Choki on YouTube for about two years now. I've shared this before but thought I'd mention again for new readers. I find whatever she makes looks so good and it also gives me ideas. I'd never heard of ketchup rice till Choki. This video is 3 Good Habits That I'm Glad I Picked Up Recently.
I've got a confused Eastern Phoebe on the front of the house. She has been bringing nesting material to multiple spots (7) on the veranda roof and we have cleared it away a few times to discourage her as we aren't convinced it is safe there. But she is persisting and yesterday the mound on the left seems to have been made more substantial. I'm worried she will use all her valuable energy on this exercise and won't have any left for motherhood.
My net wanderings took me to this new to me place.Turkey Feathers, where Vicki shares her very cute vintage style small embroideries. I was especially interested in her State Flowers project as I'd love to complete such a piece like it and also add in the Canadian provincial flowers that don't overlap. Vicki explains more about the project in this post and offers a free PDF download of the patterns. A cute summer project for us slow stitchers.
Also don't forget the Pattern Bee site that offers a great cache of free patterns to download for embroidery and small sewing projects as well.
This week I'm continuing the cutting for a new quilt. From this book.
I began on Sunday with the first cuts being made into some of the Tilda fabric I've been saving. Pretty mauves and purples.
Hope to have it all cut this week. I'll have to prod myself a little to do this as it is not my favourite part of the quilting process.
Ned is looking out and thinking, how in the world did it all turn green so quickly!
Happily linking with Texas Quilt Gal and Brian's Home Blog.

I've seen Tilda online over the years here and there but never really found any of her products here (in shops). Always think it's all so pretty but would love to see in person! Maybe that book would be a good way to get more into it.
I like the fabric!
Thing about the phoebes are they tend to try out different locations. I picture her telling him, 'not suitable! Try again!'
Our are reusing their nest from last year and the year before!
It looks like much the same location as our, under the deck. (ツ) from <A HREF="https://mymuskoka.blogspot.com/2022/05/flora-and-fauna-tails.html> Cottage Country Ontario </A>, ON, Canada!
Nice to see that older photo of you gardening and Murphy helping. Lovely memories for you. Thank you for the stitching links, I didn't know about Stitching Bee, what a lovely site. Happy Stitching.
You found some good things. Yes, blooming season can be kind of busy. Ned sure looks handsome looking out!
I have a mourning dove that insists on building a nest on top of the downspout on a gutter. I just love Tilda fabrics. I have a project I started and stalled out on. It is on my next up when I finish the ribbon star quilt.
Morning Glories bring back memories of my mom planting them when I was little and then My hubby and I used to plant them along our fence when we lived in town. We don't have a fence for them anymore. Do you still plant them? Looking forward to seeing you progress with your new quilt.
Very pretty fabric.
God bless.
Spring memories are so dear! I guess Ned is in shock with all of a sudden things are blooming and green. Your new project looks like fun! Hugs
What a mesmerizing video with the lovely photography. I'd like to try those eggs!
It's been a long time I've been here. Love to read your posts again. Thanks for sharing the you tube channel of Choici. It is so calming me down.
State Flowers is how I found Turkey Feathers a long time ago. The pics of your dogs makes me lonesome for my big dog who is gone now. Thankfully we have Morning Glories growing on the rock wall. They were here when we came and surviving two years now!

Jocelyn - we also have a confused bird at our house. For the last few days, a Robin has been bashing itself against our master bedroom window, repeatedly. We have no idea what the reason is. It does not appear to be hurting it, since it continues day after day, but it does wake me up much earlier than I would like!
I feel like I'm in a slump....so many things to do that I do not know where to start.
Oh the poor Phoebe! I hope she finds a better nesting place! Loved seeing the photo of Murphy. What a grand boy he was! I do enjoy those Choki videos, so relaxing and thought provoking! Wishing you the best weekend and that your weather continues to prompt blooms in your world! Hugs!
I have fond memories of my dad growing morning glories.
Those phoebes are so darned persistent! We finally had to take down the thermometer to keep them from trying to build on it!
I love that picture of you gardening with Murphy keeping watch. When we lived on acreage and my husband was away, when I gardened our Buddy would park himself between me and the road and just sit there with his head in a watchful position. Love your Tilda fabrics. I had not heard of ketchup rice - sounds good - and I enjoyed her video. So peaceful and fascinating to watch.
Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!
Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, we're so glad you hopped in!
My goodness what a treasure trove in this post! Isn’t it lovely that spring is finally here? We had hard frosts this week, but I think they were short enough that the apple blossoms may have escaped. The new quilt’s fabrics are beautiful, and those embroidery links were so much fun to look at. I’m sure that Ned will enjoy spring to the fullest!
I’ve just spent the past hour catching up on your blog…serious adventures you all have been having, at home and in the city. Your hand piecing is so inspiring! Glad you are safe and relatively unscathed.
