Canadian Winter Fun, Panama Pyramids On The Wall

We did get snow on Thursday into Friday, about 7 inches or so. Here is a glimpse of Tony and Ned nearing the end of their snowy walk at the back of the house. Taken from our bedroom.

Tony is convinced his daily walks are benefitting his very good health.
Very post card beautiful with the sun on Saturday. Robbie was here skidooing which was fun.

That fits in nicely with our present jigsaw puzzle. One of the Canadian Collection from Ravensburger featuring Canadian winter scenes.
I've begun joining all my scrappy EPP Panama Pyramids together. This arrangement below by Linda Collins was based on an antique quilt she owns, btw; I don't think I mentioned that before. Antique quilts are a special love of mine and I always enjoy checking out blogs that feature them like Michele's Pennsylvania Piecemaker blog and Nancy's Joy For Grace, to name just two.
Anyway this is satisfying to see all these tiny pieced blocks coming together on the wall-lined up a bit haphazardly though. I'm going to stay with the yellow, a change from what would be my usual choice of a more neutral color. Though someone did tell me that yellow can be considered a neutral choice.
It's time I stopped second guessing every choice I make and just go with it.  I'm tired of all the hemming and humming I do, seriously. It's not like anything I sew will ever be in a show or whatever. This latest hang up was because I had bought online a pretty mossy green that arrived just in time to make me second guess the yellow. It would have suited well but it will keep for another project.
I'm continuing to work on both my two old projects this week...the other being Tiny Trees.

I know I'm not the only Just Get It Done Quilts fan.  Karen has been posting a daily decluttering video for the month of January, a great way to start the new year. It inspired me to do further sorting and organizing even though I don't have that much stuff in the sewing room. But it always seems to benefit from a dig through. Here is her Day 1 and I find all her tips so useful and doable too.

Just in case your thoughts are "springing" ahead, Krista shares this wonderful free tutorial for a lovely spring like quilt Here at her blog, Krista Moser The Quilted Life. Sew Charming uses charm packs -so easy.

A little question for you Do you know what a Flight of Tea is???
I get lots of questions and one of these days I'll write a post where I answer them.
Hope this January week is going great for you whether you are having to eat ice cream fast before it melts like Jenny in New Zealand or having to bundle up to keep warm on your walks like hubby and me.
Happily linking with The Quilt Schmilt.

Hadn't heard of that phrase, so had to Google it!!! Great to see the guys out for a walk together.Yes, ice cream down here, 30C in some places, but our mornings are darker and cooler already, 14C for a start.

I think walks in nature keep you healthy and mentally challenged better then sitting in the house! Here it is raining though and 38 degrees so I'm not walking outside but finished a walk on the treadmill instead.
Love looking at antique quilts and will check out the site you mention

Thank you Jocelyn for mentioning me in your blog, half way around the world from you in sunny New Zealand. We are enjoying our summer caravanning holiday, and thinking of you with your snow and ice.

Your snow looks so pretty. I’m glad you are going with the yellow fabric. It gives the blocks a lift. I do like the charm square pattern

I also like the yellow background. Just because it’s cold outside, I can still eat ice cream, right??? I am just back from a long walk. Sunny and 0 degrees here today. Lots of snow coming tomorrow. It will be a good day to stay inside to sew. The dog looks like he enjoys running around in the snow. Great picture of the snowmobiler

I know what a flight of wine is so I assume it's the same for tea -- a sampling of several flavors or varieties. We had a dusting of snow yesterday and frost this morning, but our days are slowly getting warmer.

Getting a bit more snow here as well, but nothing like you had. That happened to us before Christmas.

Loved the video and her ideas can be used everywhere.

I do like the yellow by the way.

God bless.

I had to do a google over the flight of tea too...had never heard of it.
Fun links as always - thank you! Seeing the yellow background on your quilt reminded me of a quilt my Grandma made that had a similar yellow background. Sadly all her quilts were lost in a fire.

The snow is pretty and the snowmobiling looks fun! I don't know what a flight of tea is either.

I enjoy your projects! yes, I've been dithering. Hubby has been cleaning out old clothes. I'm in a bit of a dither myself, though!
happy days!

I would agree that daily walks are a magic secret of health!

Aw thanks for the mention of my blog Jocelyn! I love your Panama Pyramids and I love the yellow as a different neutral. I've also heard that red can be a neutral. I never heard of a flight of tea but now that I looked it up, it might be something my family would enjoy (they are all tea lovers). I remember them trying different teas in the 70s-80s. Weird how that doesn't seem so long ago. Have a safe and and wonderful day! Hugs!

Your handsome husband looks very Nordic. :) Glad Ned is able to do his walks again. I would assume a flight of tea is similar to the flight of beers on the menu at our favorite restaurant? You can order 3 or 4 "samples" of different beers. Me? I'd rather have a margarita - lol! I love the way your Panama pyramids is looking!

Hi, Jocelyn. I love the soft yellow you are using with your pyramids. I’m glad you are going to stay with it. I sympathize with your indecision/decisions! I am always second guessing myself…..what a waste of time! I look forward to every one of your blog entries. Stay warm and stay healthy!!!

I like the stitching on your header, and the antique quilt is awesome. You could try to make the pieced triangles and them try them on the different backgrounds to see if you like the green or yellow better. I had to look up Flight of Tea. I hadn't heard it either.

Ravensburger puzzles are good & fun puzzles. I just started a 1500 piece puzzle that I found in Mom's basement. It's by Milton Bradley. I don't believe they're in the puzzle-making business anymore! Your walkers look like they had an enjoyable outing. Those pyramids look GREAT!

Hi Jocelyn. I think yellow is a neutral and love the shade you’ve chosen for your Pyramids. I so enjoy reading your posts and watching the owes of your part of our beautiful country. Thank you for all the suggestions. I’ll need to check out your recommendations. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday. 😉 Carol

Your snow looks so wonderful! We got 5 or 6 inches on Sunday but it's all gone now. I'm hoping for more but I doubt we'll get it anytime soon.
Your Panama Pyramids look great, especially with the creamy yellow background. The triangle blocks are such fun. Sometimes I see jack-o-lantern faces, sometimes I see ghosts, teddy bears, or lions.... I'm probably not supposed to see any of those, am I?
Thanks for mentioning my blog in this post.
I have not heard of a flight of tea. I'll have to look it up.

Pyramid is looking good! I love the walking in cold weather! I am hoping that this summer we do not have 100+ every day for 6 months like last year! I'm going to have to just do it because doing by 1.5 mile each morning really provides me a great day! Sorry I am behind in commenting. Just had to finish those quilts! Hugs
