Quilty Thrift Bargains, The Prettiest Quilt Pattern, EPP Stars, Me in Complete Comfort

How are you?  January always seems like a long month but here it is done. Here is Ned on the trail having a sit and a think about how time is passing by so fast. He's thinking one day I was a puppy and next month I'm going to be 4!

And so we move on to February and blues, but not the moody or sad ones, over at Angela's RSC Party. There always seems like a lot of blues in my stash and they never get depleted. If I did a poll, I bet a lot of quilters would pick blue as their favourite colour to work with. There are so many shades and have wonderful names too. And blue figures in the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes too. I've stitched a few more EPP stars. Can you guess which ones are sewn from men's shirts?? The answer might surprise you.

I always check the fabric section in thrift stores. You never know what you might find. I had the good luck of finding a nice bundle of flannels just like the ones I used in Cardinal Rules.  All good quality with two from the Flannel Days line from Kansas Troubles Quilters and the other Primitive Gatherings. They each listed as one yard for $1.99 and they are all more than a yard with the bottom one being over 3 yards. Don't think anyone bothered to actually measure them.
And these two, the Cranston print blue roses, and the Heritage Studio autumn looking print. $1.99 each but again at least two yards in each. Maybe they get too busy to bother with measuring.
The Quilting Board folks asked the question what is the prettiest quilt pattern you've made and some who replied also mentioned the prettiest they want to make. You can read the responses at that link. A lot of folks did choose the Double Wedding Ring quilt pattern. I've seen many of your quilts that would definitely qualify as beautiful and amazing. What pattern would you choose amongst what you have made? Or maybe want to make?

I was given this wonderful fleecy blanket hooded dress...I don't know what exactly to call it.
It is the coziest thing I've ever worn. You can check it out here if you like...Amazon. I just made an online order to Costco; I like to get the bulky items like tp and detergent plus a few treats. We live just within the delivery parameters which is lucky. We haven't been in the store in years and I hear it is still over crowded. I don't know why they don't build more of them.
Okay rambling on enough for this post. We have grandsons' hockey games in our weekend. Hope there is something fun in yours too!
My stitchy friends are sharing what they love and you can find the links at LeeAnna's Not Afraid of Color post there.  Also linking this post with Frederique's Quilting Patchwork Party, Small Quilts and Doll Quilts and Kathy's Quilts.

Dont you look cozy "Snug as a bug in a rug", I remember that saying from my childhood. And didnt you do well purchasing those flannels, quite a bargain indeed.

Great fabric catches!

Yep, I always check for fabric in op shops. You can sometimes score big time. Those flannels were definitely a win. You do look nice and cozy in your plaid.

I always look for fabric and yarn in our second hand stores. Sometimes I do very well. My goodness, you look toasty in your hooded dress.

God bless.

When I discovered online shopping that was it for me. No more stores. No long lines. Just me in my comfy chair perusing what I’d like to buy. You sure got some wonderful fabric. We have an antique store here and in one booth the lady always has fabric for sale and usually just what I am looking for at the time. I-don’t have a favorite quilt pattern. My favorite quilt is the one I’m working on. Going to make a small heart one for Valentine’s Day.

I would call your fleece dress I pull over robe for first thing in the morning or relaxing in your pj's before bed. Ned is looking like a big dog now. I have more blue and green fabric I think then any others

I think all of those stars are made from shirts! I have just started cutting up some shirts to make a quilt for my cousin. This stage takes a while. Ned is in his happy place with you two! I have lots of blue fabric too…

You look so cute in your cozy dress! I am going to have to have one of those. Hard to believe Ned will be 4. I love to find those thrifty fabric bargains - you did good! Hope your weekend is fabulous.

Love that fleecey dress! It looks adorable and more importantly WARM! Love the fabrics you picked up. Our thrift rarely has decent fabric. Have a great day!

I’m not a thrift shop or second hand store shopper. I never thought of looking for fabric there. And I am trying to get rid of stuff, so I don’t shop there. But you scored big. $1.99 a yard!!. I’m with Ned! How did I get this darn old?

You have some wonderful fabric finds! What bargains! I've always wanted to make a Cathedral Windows quilt. After making enough blocks for a pillow, that is where I stopped. They take so much work, but oh those old quilts are beautiful.

I agree - January is a long month, but then suddenly it's over! You found some wonderful fabric bargains at the thrift shop - great stash enhancement, Jocelyn. Love your pretty blue stars, too!

Beautiful EPP stars, I guess they are all made with shirts ;) What a great find and bargain, these fabrics are pretty. You look great in this cozy outfit, perfect to stay warm! My favorite block is a log cabin, I know it's a simple one, but I've always wanted to make a modern log cabin quilt. Thank you for sharing and linking up today!

Oh My Goodness! Where did you get those lovely fabric at such a great price. The price tag looks like it comes from Value Village but I never find such bargain here in Orleans. Guess I'll have to go deeper into Ottawa. I had bought the Heritage print back in 2018 when I did the 365 Challenge quilt. Love it. Now those stars are all made with men shirts, right? Your house coat looks perfect for snuggling weather. Enjoy! ;^)

Great thrift scores, Jocelyn, and such a cozy "fleecy blanket hooded dress" gift you received!! Thanks for the link, but I didn't see one as cute as the one you were given. Enjoy!

Your blue stars are delightful, Jocelyn. I'm guessing all are from shirts except the lower left.
You found some great fabric at the thrift store. Love the red with blue flowers. Our stores around here rarely have fabric yardage. I wish they did!
You look very warm and cozy in your blanket hooded dress.

That is one cozy looking hooded dress. . .perfect for a cold winter day/night! I wanted to make a lone star quilt. I've stitched two bed sized ones and one miniature. One day, I might stitch another as it is so fun to see how the pattern develops as the star arms are stitched!

Oh look adorable in that cozy hooded dress! The most beautiful quilt I have ever made would have to be Alaska, which I just finished. I splurged and bought fabric from Laundry Basket quilts to make it up in celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary. It’s ready for our 36th this spring, so pretty close!

I think the prettiest quilt I made was one I called Fly Away blues. It had intersecting flying geese with plain white blocks that have beautiful quilting in them. I love all those fabrics you found at the quilt store. My local stores never seem to have any fabrics. Your EPP Stars are very pretty. Your fleecy dress looks very warm and cozy.
