Quiltmania Advent Blocks, Just Believe and Relax, Free Patterns

I find it a little harder to concentrate this close to Christmas. I'm not sure why.  I have it so easy compared to all the preparations, dinners, parcels to mail, etc., plus finishing up the school term as a teacher that would constitute my Decembers in past times. Now it's easy peasy.  Buy presents, wrap them, decorate the house with little guy's help, cook and bake a few treats for us. Oh and the very taxing- listen to Christmas music, remember to turn on the tree lights. Certainly nothing too consuming there. And I really do love it all.
Maybe it is just the season and the millions of memories that bubble up that are diverting my attention a little. Or that on certain days I have the vague but nagging feeling that there is something that needs doing and I've forgotten what it is...a lingering post retirement feeling that I've almost shaken.  Hubby, the sage, says relax.

Accomplishing a few things in the sewing room and the therapy of it all is not lost on me.
Snowman Santa cross stitch is now a cushion- Just Believe...yes!
Hand applique is one of my favourite pastimes.
Several more of the Quiltmania Advent blocks. More embellishments in the form of embroidery, beads and buttons to come for several of these. That bell needs a clapper. A free and truly fun project.
I've had this little free pattern from Jenny at Home Stitchness in my files for a long time.  It works up into a sweet little ornament.

I'm on the look out for this jigsaw puzzle. The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, winter edition. It keeps getting sold out so if you come across it, please let me know.

I do have this one that needs to be set up. To Kill a Mockingbird, :)
Winter is a great time to do jigsaws with a little music playing; something I like to do while I'm waiting for the potatoes to boil or Hubby to get ready...for those kinds of moments. (No I really can't just sit and do nothing.)

It is our monthly SAL link up hosted by Avis at  Sewing Beside the Sea. A more kind and encouraging group of international stitchers you could not find.

I'm pleased with my progress on Swirling Flowers. Though not a section as such finished, lots of fleshing out has occurred.  Can you spy my initial? I didn't realize there was to be an initial in this one till I came upon it in the pattern. (Seeing the forest but not the trees??)
Being a little more adventurous in the kitchen today, a desire prompted by the horrid weather, pouring down rain from the heavens! Mixed with bouts of freezing rain.  Have a small beef bourguignon simmering in the slow cooker.
Sunday morning update...view from my stitching chair in the living area.
Winter returns!
Murphy says What the heck!
Next time I'll share three skin/beauty products that I'm enjoying and what we find on our big Costco run which we must do this week.
Hope you are enjoying this pre-Christmas time of year and you are not forgetting something important that needs doing!

I'm loving all the gorgeous colours in your pretty sampler. Don't envy your snow one bit though! Murphy is adorable :-)

I love that cat with the book!! how cute. I find I am easily distracted at this time of year - I keep feeling like I have to do more what have I missed! All your stitching is so nice! We do not have a Costco near us but we do have a Sam's Wholesale Club that is 45 minutes away that we occasionally make use of but wonder at times if we really need to keep the membership - granted a low price but because it is a distance we do not use it as often as we could

we haven't seen the predicted snow here yet... we saw it north of us in Boulder yesterday though. Murphy, I know!! I bet the beef B. smells heavely cooking away while you stitch. I love jigsaw puzzles too, but my back hurts bending over them on a table now. I enjoy the NYer ones you told us about. Happy week ahead Jocelyn. LeeAnna

I know that feeling of, "What am I forgetting?" and I do think it is leftover from being a teacher! Your different stitching projects are so lovely, Jocelyn. I love how your cushion turned out, the Quiltmania blocks, and the joy ornament, too. It looks like the perfect day for stitching at your house!

How I love your snow and I wish we could have some centimetres too.

That jigsaw puzzle would be a perfect present for my sister. Lots of pretty stitching there, Jocelyn!

Found the " J", a bit like the driftwood in our garden as one looked like an " A". my first name initial and that of our wonderful friend who weeds the garden and does the spade work, literally.JOY, that is so beautiful.

I've been out of the hustle and bustle of Christmas for several years now and I still get the feeling from time to time that I'm forgetting someone or something! I've seen that Winter puzzle on basbleu.com but I don't know whether they'll still have it in stock. I did Spring and it was challenging enough to put me off the rest of the seasons. ;-) They are beautiful puzzles though. Love your little Joy ornament!

DH likes to do puzzles in the wintertime - I try to avoid getting sucked in because I'd rather be playing with needle and threads. I love the cat puzzle - would be a fun one to do. I'm sorry I can't help you with the puzzle you're searching for though - I will keep my eyes open and let you know if I find one.

The added embroidery stitches on the Christmas blocks really add to the design. Very nice.

That cat puzzle...love it, as well as your cross stitch, so bright and colorful, exactly what's needed this time of year!

Love the Winter puzzle! Am every time amazed how many different things you work on at the same time - it would make me look cross-eyed. You certainly don't have a concentration problem (am checking myself: am I getting older - I hardly seem to get 3 different things done in a day - plus blogging of course!) Always a treat to visit your post for All Seasons, Blog Friend! Oh, before I forget, love the elegant cross stitch swirling flowers!

Great progress and I found your initial :) Love that winter puzzle, have never seen it before.

Hello, I would love to try the Country Diary puzzle, it is pretty. Your embroidery looks beautiful, I did find the letter J. Looks like a lot of snow there, we have a snow/rain mix today. Your projects look beautiful. I hope you find time to relax too. Love your cute Murphy! Thanks for linking up! Have a happy day and a great new week!

Sitting here jealous of your cold weather as I swelter in 69 degrees temps this morning. A cold front is just north of us, but no snow, and I miss snow!
We don't even put a tree anymore, just decorations with lights in different spots that I truly enjoy, and our family draws names so there isn't the frantic rush to buy everyone a gift. Yet I still have the same niggling feeling you have that something needs to be done.
I think I just spotted the puzzle you seek on Amazon. You can check to see here: https://www.amazon.com/Cobble-Hill-Country-Diary-Winter/dp/B07NBT5X33

I have to admit that in our elder years we do not miss the mad dashing to get everyting we want to do done between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was always notorious for wrapping presents on Christmas Eve and forgetting where I hid one that usually turned up in about the next July. I have been thinking about a 2020 project that will be hand appliqued. The idea is still percolating, lol.
Merry Christmas.
xx, Carol

I love the swirling flowers cross-stitch, the colours are beautiful. The Edwardian Lady jigsaw looks beautiful too, I've had to restrict myself with jigsaws as otherwise I'll stay up til 3am...just one more piece!!

You got so beautiful craftings and I loved it. They are so unique and reminds me my childhood lol😊😊

All of your stitched pieces are so lovely! I really love the redwork embroidery and I'd love to know how you end up finishing it up. Also, my cat gets that same serious expression as the one in the puzzle ... perhaps he's trying to figure out how to kill a mockingbird himself!

Your stitching work is beautiful. Very precise, yet whimsical. A precise whimsy. A whimsy of precision. Come to think about it, jigsaw puzzles are that, too. I do jigsaws online. Only the 180 pieces. I end up doing 2 or 3 at a time. One of these days, there'll be a space in the house that I can set up a table dedicated to doing jigsaws. Merry Christmas!

Wow, such fun, sweet stitching projects you've got going on! I like to download freebies and file them away for future use, too! Your pillow turned out just perfectly! The winter puzzle is really pretty -- that would be a ton of fun to work on. I can see why it keeps getting sold out! Enjoy your week!! :)

I just checked and Amazon had the puzzle you are looking for. Shipping was quite pricey here in the states.

Your Believe cushion is so sweet and I so love your sampler....it is beautiful already. I am looking at your glistening, snowy landscape after just hopping out of our swimming pool after cooling off in the heat lol!

Jocelyn - delightful projects. Would you happen to have a digital version of the Just Believe pattern? I would love to make it. Our son arrived home on Friday and we will be doing some puzzles together while listening to traditional Christmas music, both passions we share. I was feeling rushed before he arrived, but now it is mostly relaxation!

Wow! So many lovely projects! The cushion is darling! The applique is lovely and the ornament is just too sweet. The J in your Swirling Flowers certainly blends in well. Beautiful work!
