Christmas Parcel, Cross Stitching Birds, Jewel Box Quilt Finish, Supportive Blogging World

I've been giving Fraktur Flowers attention for the month of December. Hard to believe we are down to just hours of 2021 left, isn't it.

My sister always sends me a lovely Christmas parcel. I've not read this book. Any of you?  And of course, Liberty of London little sticky notes are very pretty.
And the tiny owl ornament with its' message is also so appropriate for me on both counts.
My happiest thing this week is having the Jewel Box Quilt all finished off. Funny how that can happen when you spend all your stitching time on one project. I used my walking foot to run quilting lines through all the red blocks.

For the backing, I used up these two coordinating fabrics I had in my cupboard for ages.
I made a sashing of red, then pulled the backing around for a narrow finishing edge. Since I wound up using batting for the middle layer, it is really too fluffy for a tablecloth.  Better suited for a lap quilt so will be a little gift in the future for someone.
Another  week in another year almost done... an early winter sunset.

What a supportive world the blogging stitching community is!
Thank you all for the sympathetic comments about maintaining good mental health throughout these very strange times. 💖Thank you to those who shared with me your experiences and suggestions; I appreciated that so much. I'm feeling well and almost back to my mostly very positive self.
It will be a quiet ringing in of the New Year here at the wooden house. But it's all good!
Enjoy your evening, your day tomorrow and cheers to a wonderful new year for all of us!

Your jewel box quilt is quite a dazzler, Jocelyn. And how cute that little owl wearing the cup from an acorn nut. Each day certainly IS a blessing! Thank you for sharing so many treasures and a very Happy New Year to all at the Wooden House!

Happy New Year to you and hubby. Ours was spent camping, but no yahooing happened here, we sat outside for a while in the evening with some bubbles. Gemma had a great time chasing bugs around and we didn't even stay up till midnight.
You have done very well completing your lovely quilt.
As for "The Silent Treatment" I havent read the book but used to get this a lot from hubby number one in the old days when I was younger. Luckily Robin is not like this at all, he is quite happy person and we get on very well indeed.

I love your Jewel Box quilt - great finish! Your statement in italics about what happens when we stay focused on one project made me laugh. If only I would follow that advice...Beautiful sunset picture, too. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Jocelyn and congratulations on your Jewel Box finish! I think I’m adopting “Each day is a blessing “ as my motto this year 😊. Glad your feelings of depression are lifting. I was a primary care physician for 40+ years and depression is amazingly common and complex. The key is to seek help if it is severe or persistent, but sounds like you’re doing Ok now. Your family and all the interests that engage you should help. I look forward to keeping up with your interesting activities in 2022!

Your Fraktur Flowers project is looking good. I just finished my cross stitch project (almost at the stroke of midnight), so I'm ready to find another one. I haven't read that book, so will look forward to hearing what you think. That little owl is cute! Happy New Year!

I haven't read that book but it looks interesting. Will have to see if our library has a copy. I love your wee owl and the sentiment he/she holds. Your quilt is lovely and will be perfect for a lap quilt. I'd hate to put it on a table where it might end up getting spilled on!!
Happy 2022 - I look forward to enjoying your posts and your wonderful photos throughout the coming year. Take care of yourself - be safe, be well, and be happy.

I love your latest quilt. Those colors are what I like, bright and cheery. I've been away from blogging for a bit, so I'm catching up. Happy New Year to you.

Happy New Year to you and family. The quilt is beautiful, the red border is the perfect finish and the shower of red from the backing along the edges makes it sparkle.....wonderful choices.

Love the winter sunset picture. That's one lovely thing about winter; the leaves fall so the sunrise/sunset can be seen in all it's splendor. Your Fraktur piece is very nice. Cross stitch is so relaxing to me

What a sweet owl, and I love your sunset photo. Beautiful.
I'm sorry to hear about your bout with depression. So much darkness when that happens. Glad you were able to overcome.

I’m late in my New Year greeting. I always enjoy your mostly happy posts. I’m glad you feel back to almost normal. Your Jewel Box quilt is stunning. I love the red sashing with the darker backing pulled to the front. And the sunset photo is just glorious.

Happy New Year. I can so relate to being in a funk for some reason around Christmas. Once it is over I feel so much better. Happy belated birthday, and your red jammies are fabulous, some days are just for lounging.

Oh that Jewel Box is so pretty. That seems like a quick finish for you, and LOL on how that happens when we focus on one project!
I love that winter sunset photo. Dusk in winter is the most evocative time for me, somehow reminds me of childhood and gives me such peace.

Happy New Year Jocelyn. One can only hope 2022 will be a kinder, gentler year for us all. I’m so glad to hear you are feeling a bit more like yourself. You have been busy on your Fraktur Flowers and the Jewelbox Quilt is a real beauty. Enjoy being tucked in to your wooden house in the weird winter weather we are having. ⛄️
