First of Three Mistakes, EPP Again, Wildflowers Free Pattern, Tiny Hand Stitched Needlebook

I made a large pot of -I don't know what to call it- ground beef, onions, tinned tomatoes, cabbage, corn and carrots all cooked together with a little broth. Sort of a stew I guess. It was tasty and I added a couple of the wild garlic that has just ripened. Being me, I made enough for the whole street, so the first night I cooked rice to go with it and the second night, mashed potatoes. I'm ridiculously happy when I make enough of something to cover two meals.

I have a few more of the EPP Panama Pyramids sewn in greens to add to the little pile. I'll get to work through the colours I guess just following the monthly RSC guide.
I shared in my storm post the little hand stitching I'd begun of the colourful one inch squares scraped from the bottom of the scrap bag.
I finished the little 3 inch by 4 inch needle book yesterday.
The Jackrabbit uses just half the thread colours that my present project does.
Floral Motif Sampler is moving right along so soon I'll get back to this fellow.
Something pretty to check out...Remy's reoffered her cross stitched Wildflower Sampler Pattern 2011, a lovely smallish design and it's free. It is also very easy to follow. Check it out here...Embroiderbee's Primary Hive

Thank you all for the very  kind comments about my face and also the well wishes about my injury from the fall and the storm too. Nothing I can do about my face and the storm but it turns out there is something I could have done differently about the injury.

First mistake I felt pretty good on day three after that fall and made an error in judgement and tried to do normal things.  I brought in groceries up the steps from the car and threw the ball for Ned to get some exercise and other stuff. Those activities re-inflamed the ache and it ached in the night and felt very sore the next morning. That taught me a little lesson- real healing takes time...I've got to take it easy even as it feels better.  And as my friend, Heather, pointed out- soft tissue injuries take longer to heal than breaks.

But it's all good; I do have a high threshold of pain.  Also those three storm days had the silver lining of me not moving as much as normal so that also has helped. I'm back to my chest hurting only when I move a certain way.

Second Mistake was a stitching one and it was big. Sigh More about that next time.

Yes, you need to take the time to heal properly but it seems we all need to learn that lesson the hard way (and sometimes a lot more than once!).
Resident Chef pretty much always cooks enough for at least two meals and often a lot more than that. Our freezer is usually pretty full of pre-made meals just ready to unthaw.

If is so difficult to hold back when feeling good after an injury. Hope all goes better very soon.

I totally missed the post of you taking a fall with the dog - that post was done while we were on a family emergency - I do hope your aches and pains are better now - Melanie took a fall walking her dog awhile ago too and it was startling to say the least!
I call that stew - I always make enough for meal and then a couple left over lunches.

Your dinner meal sounds yummy - anything stew-like is a favorite here! I love your tiny needle book, too. A lovely way to sew up some scraps. I'm sorry your fall has been the "gift that keeps on giving!" Hope you feel better each day. It can definitely be hard not to overdo it after something like that.

Oh dear, sorry you have inflamed your injury, please dont try to do too much, too soon. I hate to say it but we, myself included, are not as young as we used to be, and healing takes time.
I love cooking meals which do us fo several nights, or more often than not, I put the extra away in the freezer. I've got a big pot of soup in the crockpot, and I have to show off here, first made chicken stock for my soup out of the carcass and veggie bits. It's always so satisfying (for me) to make home made soup.

The little square scraps have made for a perfectly wonderful little needle case. I love your Panama Pyramids work in progress.

I have printed out that stitchery pattern, perhaps later this winter I could get started on it.... Providing of course the light is good.

I consider big batch meals the best thing as I can just warm something up for the next meal.

God bless.

Time to admit we're not as young as we used to be! Earlier in the week I missed the last step going into the garage and took a tumble onto the concrete. No one there to pick me up. Fortunately only my pride was damaged.

I always make too much food which is why my freezer is full of meals. I am trying to eat some of them. OK I missed somewhere that you fell, yep take time to heal. I just love your triangles.

Your meal sounds delicious – the perfect comfort food! Your EPP project is so lovely! I’m looking forward to finishing up the QAYG hexies and get back to my Grandmother’s Flower Garden.
Do you draw your stitch lines for your 1” blocks or can you successfully “eyeball” it? What a great way to make a needle book – I may have to copy your idea!
Take good care!

Wow! I'm impressed you are able to hand stitch such small pieces. Great use of scraps.

Glad you are feeling a little better! We women have a problem taking it easy after an injury! Brad was in Quebec City during your Dericho--he called me and was telling me about this awful storm coming through the city but it was just a thunderstorm in comparison to what you endured. I love your little needlebook and adore your pyramids! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs!

Your "stew" looks and sounds wonderful - I'd scarf down a plate with those mashed potatoes. I understand about doing too much too soon, have done it all my life and never seem to learn from doing it. Looking forward to reading about your stitching adventure. :)

Might get checked out by a doc if you're still achy. Could be a fracture somewhere or a cracked something or other. The older we get, the more consequences to even "gentle" falls. I want to be five again, back when I could fall off the roof and pretty much just bounce!

It is so easy to think we are feeling better when we have rested for a bit, but those injuries take time to heal especially when we are older. Your pyramids and scrappy squares are looking great. I sometimes cook a big batch of a dinner meal and put the rest in the freezer in dinner portions to take out when I don't feel like cooking. I have a large upright freezer in the basement and one shelf is usually full of these dinners. I hope you continue to feel better each day.

I sure do like your green pyramids, and your needle book turned out nicely! Hope you are feeling better. It's hard to slow down and let the healing take place. I messed up my foot somehow a week or so ago, and because I'm a daily walker, it hurt me in a different way to not walk for a couple days and let it calm down.

Let's make a deal - I'll be patient with my healing, if you'll be patient with yours :-) It's so easy to forget and do those things we normally do! I'm finding that I run out of steam so much more quickly now, so I need to be patient, which has never been my strong suit. That cross stitch is so pretty, thanks for the link!

I would say that as we get older it takes longer to get over 'THINGS'. but then I would do the same as you - keep on trucking. I also have a high threshold for pain - sometimes that is not a good thing, but it is what it is!

Your stew looks delicious. And your projects are coming along great!

Have a wonderful week! Hugs

If I'm making something I really like, like spaghetti, then I like to make enough for a couple other meals as well. Thinking about what ti fix to eat becomes more of a chore as we get older.

Rest! Taking care of you needs to be your highest priority. Of course, a little hand stitching is always good for what ails ya! Feel better.

Your EPP Panama Pyramids look great. Hopefully you are continuing to take it easy and heal. Happy stitching this weekend.
