Time is short; I can no longer afford to just drift. That is my mantra these days. Though in honesty I don't think I ever just drifted...I remember too much of it all, conversations for instance and my feelings during those conversations. No I have to think I was fully present, putting in lots of effort and responsible for whatever happened or didn't happen, whatever words came out of my mouth, whatever got done or got lost along the way, etc. And now suddenly it's yet another December and hopefully bringing with it a wonderful gift- my 71st Christmas! Life, it goes on, heh.
LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color's prompt this week was to think of a Christmas movie that is a favourite. Two things I just loved growing up -the Walt Disney Show and cartoons. I made a vow when I was 9 or 10 to always love cartoons no matter how old I got (they truly were more innocent times!). I watched the Walt Disney Christmas cartoons as a kid, my girls watched them and I was so happy to find them on YouTube and share them with my grandsons. The production values were so good they stand the test of time. BTW, do you have a Christmas movie I should check out?
Thursday's Three Free
One link this week but it's a doozy!
We All Sew offers a bank of 139 free patterns called Red and White Holiday Decor (though other colours are included). This is the Bernina site and there is so much to explore there. There are tutorials and templates provided to sew pin cushions, place mats, ornaments, quilts and just about anything else that comes to mind. Here is a smattering...
Vintage ornaments seem to be a modern theme this year.
And for my slow stitching pals, comes this bank of free hand embroidery patterns found at this link- Needlework Craft Gossip.
Someone is watching me. Present day dog, Ned, keeping watch, resting his head on the coffee table wants another walk so must go. Silent imploring, LOL.

Oh my goodness, Ned!! Yes, you are just peeking there, aren't you? I love dogs. I can just hear him sniffing a bit and exhaling a bit, sitting patiently for you to take the hint. Happy birthday month, Jocelyn! You are almost 71 years young with lots of experience behind you and many good days ahead. That vintage ornament - wow, that is gorgeous. The fabric selections are spot on. It is tempting . . . I love Disney, too. It was a more innocent time, but there was a lot of violence with the Road Runner (beep, beep!) and several others, if you watch carefully. They do stand the test of time, though. I absolutely agree. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Yes, December has arrived down here, younger daughter's birthday on the 4th, we have not had really hot days yet, maybe late February for them. Love your wooden walls, we had a Lockwood house many years ago, the planks were horizontal, and very thick. 71, that is an achievement these days, I'm 82 and value every day,When I look back, lost my Mum when she was 77, and Dad at 83,Mum was an exceptional seamstress, sewed everything, she trained as a professional dressmaker before she trained as a psychiatric nurse. Those eyes peeping through, wonder what the thoughts are there.
It is hard to believe it is December already! Time sure has flown by! What pretty ornaments and designs you have found to share this week. Love that snout asking for a walk! I hope you have a wonderful month of December.
I love your wood walls - we have some wood walls in this house but not all - I would love a true log cabin house with wood inside and out.
Yes as Nancy as value every day - I'm 70 right there close to you in age we need to treasure all our moments and not dwell on age.
Your home is beautiful. The snowman block is ever so cute!
Love seeing your beautiful wall hanging from Lynette Anderson. Thanks also for the reminder for me to check out the Bernina site. It’s a good one.
Ned’s nose photo made me giggle! Hope you enjoyed your walk and were careful not to take another tumble! Yikes! That was scary!
Love seeing the interior of your wooden house. I'm trying not to panic about the time left. At least most of the family is coming to Tennessee so I don't have to worry about mailing gifts, but I have done very little gift planning. I did buy stocking stuffers today and that's mostly what we do for the grown-ups these days.
I looked forward to Sunday nights just for Disney.... the wonderful world of disney... the kindness and magic and well, tip toe-ing chipmunks! I still love cartoons, finally saw up the other day.
your little freebie lists caused me to make my acorn mantle piece I think it was from your mention
now I am eyeing the peppermint block
loved your Rex... sweet. The black poodle at our house got groomed by us today, so much winter hair! LeeAnna
I love your new header photo, Jocelyn! A bowl full of hand-stitched goodies! Beautiful wooden house, too. What a cute photo you caught of Ned - you can just read his mind!
The interior of your house looks gorgeous. I have much of my Christmas shopping done but I still feel like I have too much to do in a short period of time. I'm glad online shopping is so easy and quick. Thanks for the free links! Love the snowman block too!
Yep, hard to believe we are in the last month of the year already. I am taking it one step at a time, and I can slowly see a change in all my projects. Still, it is going to be a push to get all done. I am optimistically hopeful that things can finally be under control.
Bookmarked those free sites to take a look at later.
I love the flat wooden walls.
God bless.
My favorite Christmas movie is It Happened on 5th Avenue. There are bunches of other ones too, like, White Christmas, but 5th Avenue is really my favorite of them all. Have a great day!!!!

Enjoyed reading your post today! Happy birthday month! It is also my birthday month...looks like I am chasing you...I will be 66.
I made the Vintage Ornaments quilt. I had lots of fun with it! You can see my version here:

I hope it is okay to post a link to show you!
Ned is adorable! :)
Your home is beautiful. Thanks for sharing a photo of all that gorgeous wood.
I've always loved Chip & Dale. Thanks for the fun link to set the Christmas mood!
hahaha Laughing so much at Ned! Scout lays her head on my quilt when she's ready to go...because I'm usually sewing a binding or something. That Scandanavian wall hanging is adorable too! Thanks for the inspiration this week! Have a great week! Hugs!
You do such fine work!
I managed a sketch this week. I am happy with that.
We only exchange with kids and grandkids, so I am nearly done that.
Your header is amazing! Such a cheery post!
All that knotty pine! there is NEVER enough time! I hope you're enjoying yours (and your walks with Ned). Ooh - I feel in love with the red white blue mini quilt on that link. Down the rabbit hole I will go!
The Hallmark movie " Unlocking Christmas" was filmed in Almonte and it is great fun to pick out all the local places. The hardware store is the Lee Valley store and the museum is the textile museum with better lighting.
I always think this is the year that I will watch more Christmas movies, but then I get stuck baking cookies at the last minute or something. My kids have some favorites for sure.:)
I'll be celebrating my own 71st Christmas this year. It's hard to believe, but there we are. All my life I had at least one German Shepherd, until three years ago. Our kids don't want us to get another dog, but honestly, I need a GSD in my life! I don't know how they don't understand.
Loving all that wall space in your woodsy home!
Christmas movies - I must admit to a quiet love for all those sappy Hallmark feel-good Christmas movies. I get so tired of so much doom and gloom that seems to surround us and so I look forward to a few hours each week spent with those movies. Resident Chef has to see the Alistair Sim version of Scrooge and Christmas isn't complete unless I get to watch the old cartoon version of The Grinch.
Thank you for the links (AND the warning!)
What great shares! Thanks for the embroidery designs. I liked seeing what you are working to finish and finished. Christmas movie on YouTube, look for a Twist of Christmas - nice clean family story, feels like Hallmark!
your home is beautiful and thanks for the share...I'll need to check it out!
I like the Dresden pillow - it looks like a big piece of peppermint candy. Thanks for linking with Design Wall Mondays. Hugs, Judy
