September Hello, Free Patterns, Journal Writing, Turtle Family

Hello September, may the new month bless you with love, happiness & good health https:/… | Hello september images, Hello september quotes, Welcome september images

I made a hearty soup with the leftover pasta sauce. I've never used it for a soup base before but it makes so much sense to do so. It has many flavours and spices and with added broth and vegetables as well as kidney beans, it was quite good. I had made another whole wheat loaf in the bread machine so with a slice of that, we had a filling supper.

On my make this week list is twice baked potatoes and to use a large piece of halibut I bought. I find fish doesn't hold up well in the freezer. It is so expensive here, you really can't afford to lose it to frost burn.

Are you using Vitamin D?  I know I mentioned it before but I believe it is good for us.  We are using the drops in our food which is so convenient and because Vitamin D does not occur naturally in many foods.  I'm thinking of this more now as the season is turning and quickly it seems.  So we won't be in the sun as much building natural Vitamin D, not here in Canada. I don't believe in overdoing any of these things...moderation is always good, of course.

I'm going to finish those Flower Garden Blocks this week.  YES I am. Still hope to get in some veranda stitching too. I'm wearing one of my favourite blouses here- 100% soft cotton and the buttons are sewn on with peach coloured thread. By Lila Rose, a thrift store find.

Also hope to sew two more rows on the Easy Hexagon Stars.  I made a pattern out of downloads from the internet.
I found a good sized hexagon shape Here.  And experimented with the triangle part.  So far so good with these cardboard patterns.
Writing in this particular journal, The Wisdom Journal, every day is a new plan of mine. So happy to receive this set as a birthday gift. Read a little and write a bit.  I've decided to write memories of Mom and Dad with a nod to what they taught us in this particular journal. I always said I won the birth lottery to be born to those two. I'm enjoying asking Mom about particular events or people to clarify some of my memories too.
It's the older grandson's 16th birthday this week (eek) so I have to get a card for him.  I think I will give him one of those gift cards for Best Buy or Amazon. Though I am reluctant to do this, at least this way he can pick out whatever he wants himself. For the techy stuff and games, I haven't a clue.

The pond is home to a whole family of painted turtles now. I do hope it can sustain them safely. I didn't know how much turtles like to bask in the sun.

I seem to be a little more anxious about all our well being lately. I really hope my sense that we are on the brink of something more awful is pure foolishness. But then, those who know me well, know WORRY is my middle name. That is something I hope not to do much of this week!

That soup sure looks good, we'll be glad when soup season shows up here. Love those turtles, they sure are cute!

I hope the "something awful" goes away, we, too, are trying not to think about the possibility that our lives will never be the same. Yesterday I tended to keep more distance from anyone else, I stood slightly away from a lady in the pharmacy, and she had a dreadful cough . Maybe bronchitis? but I had to try very hard not to imagine the worst, even though our small town has not had even a single case of Covid 19. Love the hexagons, is there paper piecing or do you use freezer paper? Or maybe they just seam together so well. Cold snap down here, snow about 2 hours north of us today, was in the far south yesterday early morning. Like news, it has travelled so fast.

Jocelyn, your turtle photo is wonderful! Not only that you saw them, but also that reflection in the water. Your new star project is looking great - pretty prints against that dark gray. Your idea to write memories of your folks and what they taught you in the journal is a lovely one!

So nice to see the family of painted turtles in your pond. There are no native turtles or tortoises here in New Zealand so I've only seen them in zoo's.
Your tasty home made soup looks yummy, there is nothing nicer than bome cooked meals, is there.

I am a giver of gift cards to teens and adult kids in our family! Some say it’s impersonal! I disagree. Many years ago when I was a young mom and my sister was in college, our young brother gave us gift certificates for a favorite store. We were thrilled. We made a girls day of it shopping and having lunch, I was a gift of time together in addition to a new sweater or pair of jeans! My kids love them!

I've bookmarked the hexie; I just ordered some papers because I couldn't find anything online until this post! I'll have to fritz a bit with the triangle too. My daughter gave me some large Kaffe hexies and I can't wait to put them together. I'm thinking soup tonight too, and I should start Vit D too, since our dark winter days will be coming soon. Those turtles are so cute, all reaching for some sun!

Your soup looks very good. Improvisation sometimes produces the best results of all. As the weather starts to cool my thoughts turn to soup. I make about eight different kinds in large batches. We eat it the day I make it and can about three jars of each so that we have a variety on hand, and when we go out birding on a cold winter's morn there is nothing quite like hot, steaming homemade soup for, lunch. The farmers market is already starting to offer squash at good prices, so a couple of squash soups will probably be first on the list.

I like giving gift cards to family for the same reason -- I really don't know what folks want. My son-in-law likes to get "experiences" not concrete things. ARGH way hard to come up with those for him. We used to drive by a pond and would often see lots of turtles sunning themselves. I'm hoping your premonition is wrong this fall. We've had enough issues in 2020. Take care.

Happy September Jocelyn! I love the quilts you are working on! What a nice post today and I think we are all worried right now about health matters. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Hugs!

Your hexagon stars are going to be lovely; how big will it be? Vitamin D is the only supplement my PCP recommends so Alex and I take one pill with dinner.

I enjoy reading your posts but I am not one to comment often. When you wrote about being on the brink of something awful, well guess what came to my mind immediately? Trump being voted in for a second term would be mine, and many other peoples, worst nightmare. Honestly, living in the USA right now is exhausting.

You always catch such wonderful nature photos. The turtles sunning are delightful. I have some leftover tomato sauce, too, but I think it will be too warm for soup today. My doctor just recommended I start taking a calcium and vitamin D supplement after my bone density scan showed signs of osteopenia. I'm thankful she didn't prescribe a medication instead, since my last experience with Fosamax was unpleasant. I completely understand your feeling of impending doom. Here in the US we have the added dread that our demented President may actually get re-elected. Doom indeed. Enjoy the cooler days of autumn. We know what's coming our way shortly.

Hi Jocelyn! I do take a small vitamin capsule each day. At one time, my level was in the 3-range instead of the normal 30-range, Once I got my levels into the healthy range, I want to keep it there. Well, isn't that clever how you've added the triangles to the hexagons! Pretty darn nifty. Your soup looks delicious. We love having an easy supper like that now and then, especially as the weather turns chillier. Thanks for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

Your hexagons look great! So does the spaghetti. Don't worry, God will prevail and things will be better before we know it! Take care!

Soup looks good - soon will be time for making soup here too. Those turtles are adorable - such a great photo!
As for being anxious, I'm with you there. I try very hard not to dwell on what's going on around us and the fact that winter is coming and I'm afraid that the lockdown will happen again, all because of people not paying attention to what they're being told to do. I don't like to drive anywhere because there are so many more crazy people on the roads - so much road rage and just plain ignorance and complete disregard for safe driving practices. At this point I refuse to listen to the news beyond a little bit every day because I simply can't handle it. I've battled depression for years altho' for the past few years it's been no real issue, but I worry that it's going to come back and am trying to do everything I can to protect myself. Thank goodness for my sewing room and being able to create as much as I can because I think that certainly helps. So all that (too much information I'm sure!) just to say I know how you feel! And yes, I take Vit. D all year round.

I am finding that if I forget to take my Vit. D3 then I have more aches and pains. Love your turtles!

Your soup looks so yummy! I love to make soups but it's still too hot here. Your slow stitching projects are so pretty. Thanks for sharing them on Wednesday Wait Loss.
