Quilt Bible Blocks, Snowmen Table Runner, 3 Free Seasonal Patterns, Neddy's Growing!

I tumbled down a rabbit hole this week I can tell you!! On a whim I decided to get out my scrappy Quilt Bible blocks and see what they looked like all together. The floor was the only space free to lay them out.  I'd already made the decision to use a light blue fabric for the sashing as Rosemary had used in her book. I figured she's the expert and actually I think it is working okay.

I'd thought of black but didn't have enough on hand and white is over used by me. I like this project enough and it is teaching me skills I need so after two days on my sewing room floor,  I've made the decision to put it back in its tote.  I'll try to sew a block here and there and build it into a real quilt, not just sized for the lap.

Meanwhile, this much smaller project is on my TO DO list for this week. I've added more hand quilting lines to the Turkey block in the middle of the Snowman table runner and I need to finish the borders. I wish this would photograph the correct colour.
I'm thinking my stem stitching on the snowmen is not bad. I mention that not for bragging or anything but I'm questioning if I am still able to stitch as well.  My work on the Moda Holiday SAL blocks is definitely not as neat, I'm realizing.
I've been noting free Christmas projects and will share a couple today and in  upcoming posts.
This first one is really cute. Miniature anything is cute especially teeny tiny Scrappy Mittens.  Mini Mitten Christmas Ornaments
Orange Bettie is where generous Anne shares her love of sewing and offers tutorials and free patterns too. Her adorable fall squirrel is in my To Do file. But follow that link to make your own mini mitten ornaments. Great for using up those extra pretty wintry scraps too.

At the wonderful Crabapple Hills Studio Downloadables Page you'll find this pretty Winter Bouquet embroidery pattern. Other free seasonal patterns too to look through including a bouquet for each of the seasons.

Eek! That reminded me that I purchased the Snow Days pattern a few(5 or 6!) years ago. Love it, just haven't gotten to it. Need to stitch it while these fingers of mine can!

Whilst Iris Naps is generously offering a free cross stitch design for the 2021 season called Let It Snow. While there, check out All is Calm, the freebie for 2020.  So cute both of them.

Also cute is my Neddy. Thank goodness this island is a tall one! Hubby's prosciutto and cheese plate is tempting him.
That's my Yeti cup there on the left I was talking about in the last post.
Enough yammering for today; I've got stitching to get to. Hope your stitching fingers are flying today too!

your picture of the dog at the kitchen counter is like at my daughters house, we have to keep pushing things away from the edge as the youngest dog was very keen on getting food and in fact managed to pull a plate holding a piece of pie to within reach and grabbed the slice and made a mess on the floor while trying to clean it up while we were trying to get the mess up off the floor and off of paws!

So many fun things to be stitching on! I love your blue and white snowmen. Are you hand quilting this one - your stitches look wonderful to me! Those free downloadables from Crabapple Hill are very enticing.

Lovely projects, and thanks so much for the links. Love the one in your header. My daughter got me a Yeti cup for my BD in October. I had a SIC cup before, but I had dropped it in the driveway a couple of times and the bottom was sort of wobbly. Hope you have a great week, and thanks again to the links, I always appreciate them!

Your stitching is lovely and your piecing ain't bad, either. Neddy looks like he's one tall leap from that plate of edibles!

Your stitching on the blue snowmen is fabulous! I think hand embroidery is so fun to do. I started a redwork snowmen series the other night. My hubby and I both have that same Yeti mug, we were gifted them when we purchased our new truck last year and we love the mug(and the truck)! I do take drinks in the sewing room all the time, in this mug or another similar.

The pic of Ned made me smile. I caught Bobbin stretching her utmost to try to fish something out of the garbage a wee bit ago. Love your Bible blocks, and now I have had to visit crab apple studio for the christmas download. Not going down that rabbit hole right now, but perhaps eventually.

What lovely projects in those links. My problem is I already have so much to do!!!! Love the tiny mitts.

I think your stitching is just fine.

God bless.

Love your blog header! It really fits the season. Your Quilt Bible blocks look great. It's good to pull out an older project and decide where you want to go with it. Enjoy your slow stitching projects this week.

I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but please provide a reference for the Bible blocks. Just noticed your winter header!

I think your stitching is great, Jocelyn! I’m going to see if I can link up the two cross stitch patterns. Thanks!

I love seeing Neddy's antics. It sure would be fun to get him and my Lucy and Sugar together. What a riot. You continue to inspire me and give me more ideas for quilts (as if I needed any more!) Your stitching looks fine to me. Merry Christmas, if I don't comment again this month.

Needy must be very food motivated, just like my grand dog, Finn! Such pretty blocks with the blue sashing!

Love your new header! Thanks for the fun peek at your Bible blocks. Those mittens are adorable. Do you color the background on your Crabapple Hill bouquet? I've never actually tried that, but I love the look. Your stem stitches look great! I'm jealous. Lol!
Thank you for linking to To Do Tuesday!

Your Neddy is super cute, and oh my goodness how he has grown! Love that photo of him! I think blue for the sashings for the Quilt Bible looks lovely and those snowmen are both pretty and sweet. I think your embroidery looks great. Thank you for providing us a rabbit hole of links to follow. They all look very tempting.

A friend called her standard poodle a counter cruiser. Looks like you have one of those as well.

Really wish I could visit Crabapple Hill because I've seen so many beautiful things from there - unfortunately, for reasons unknown, my computer absolutely refuses to go there and gives me dire warnings every time I do. Sigh.\
I really love the blue stitched snow people - so often you see them done with red, but I think the blue adds to illusion of 'chilly'.

Yes Neddy is definitely growing. I have decided that if I have not finished the last 2 UFOs by the end of December they will be put away for another person to finish them!!!! No squirrels, well, I do have one started but having problems with how to design the darn thing. Anyway. great post! Hugs
